They surpassed the previous record of 206 runs by Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson against West Indies in 2015. They also registered the highest partnership for any wicket by Pakistan in World Cups, beating the previous best of 194 runs by Saeed Anwar and Wajahatullah Wasti against New Zealand in 1999.

The Sri Lankan bowlers had no answer to Rizwan and Shafique’s brilliance and looked helpless as they watched their huge total being chased down with ease.
